“Belarus 4 Gomel” channel reported of commissioning of the mini-CHP plant in Kalinkovichi by the international consortium of JSV “Belzarubezhstroy” and ENERSTENA JSC (Lithuania)

A local fuel-fired mini-CHP plant was commissioned which will service most of Kalinkovichi town (Gomel Region). According to the experts, this mini-CHP plant is “2 in 1” facility, as it will replace several outdated boiler plants by producing heat as well as electricity.

The project owner is Municipal Unitary Enterprise “Capital Construction Directorate in Gomel Region” and the contractor is the consortium made of JSV “Belzarubezhstroy” (Republic of Belarus) and Enerstena JSC (Lithuania).  The plant has 16.5 MW thermal capacity and 1.9 MW electrical capacity. The project financing came from two sources: loan funds provided by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and by Gomel Region Executive Committee.  

The plant generator and equipment was adjusted and set-up by Siemens technicians. It took only 1.5 years to build the CHP in the place of the old boiler house which demolished in 2016.

This modern reliable and efficient mini-CHP will guarantee regular power and heat supply to the town. The use of biofuel (wood chips) will help to save up to 12 mln. m² gas annually. The wood chips will be supplied from the fuel storage area which was built in Gulevichi village as part of the mini-CHP project. According to estimates, the power generation costs will be almost 2 times lower.
